Loneliness Can Be Deadly for Elders and Friends Are the Antidote

As you begin to think about your plans for the coming year, please make a note on your task list to call or stop by and visit a senior adult friend, acquaintance, or neighbor – just to let them know you are thinking of them and to wish them the best in the New Year.

I often say that when the spirit dies, the body is soon to follow. This is particularly true for older people who have endured the loss of friends and loved ones over the years. Our seniors are often a forgotten treasure. I ask you to bring a little joy – some spiritual-emotional nourishment to someone you know this season. Make it a point to let them know that you value and appreciate them.
